City of Toronto’s 2026 Budget Engagement
The GTA Disability Coalition and the Centre for Independent Living in Toronto engaged in the City of Toronto 2026 Budget though our Town Hall Centring Disability Inclusion in the City of Toronto’s 2026 Budget and city budget deputations. We called on the city to make critical investments in accessible and affordable housing, accessible and affordable public transit and a disability-specific Poverty Reduction Strategy.

End Housing Discrimination
Join the Accessible Housing Network and work to end housing discrimination for disabled people by signing their petition to include Universal Design in Canada’s National Building Code. Write a letter to your MP advocating for accessible housing or share your stories of housing discrimination.
Raise the Rates
Join the fight against poverty with the Raise the Rates Coalition by signing their petition to demand the Ontario government at least double OW and ODSP rates and commit to ongoing cost of living increases.
End Austerity
Add your name to End Austerity’s Open Letter urging the Ontario government, and all parties, to enact policy changes that will end austerity for disabled people.
Justice for Disabled Workers
If you’re a disabled worker in a regulated profession, join a growing movement for disabled workers by sharing your story of workplace discrimination.
Become a #BetterTheBenefit Community Advocate
Use Disability Without Poverty’s toolkit to join grassroots action and become a community advocate for improving the implementation of the Canada Disability Benefit.
